Arbor Dental offers sedation dentistry to patients who have fear or anxiety of dental treatment. Sedation dentistry is offered in different forms depending on the needs of our patients.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation – nitrous oxide, also known as “laughing gas,” is inhaled through a small nose piece that is placed over the nose. Patients using nitrous oxide sedation are able to respond to verbal commands and questions as well as physical stimulation.
Minimal or “Twilight” Sedation – this method is minimal sedation is administered through oral medication at a safe and effective dosage based on your past and current medical history. Similar to nitrous oxide, patients choosing this method can respond to verbal questions and commands as well as physical stimulation but the awareness of pain, sounds and smells is diminished.
Intravenous Moderate or “Conscious” Sedation – this method is administered through an injection and is immediately effective. Commonly used for shorter dental procedures, patients choosing this sedation method can respond to verbal questions and commands as well as physical stimulation but the awareness of pain, sounds and smells is significantly diminished.
