Routine preventive care is an essential part of maintaining good oral health and a beautiful smile. It allows our dentists to ensure that you are receiving all the care you need. Dental cleanings and exams are key to keeping your mouth and smile healthy and are among the most important preventive treatments our dentists and team provide. Here is everything you can expect during your next preventive visit:

Cleanings

Your hygienist will thoroughly clean your teeth to remove any plaque and tartar (calculus) from your tooth surfaces. Next, they will floss your teeth to remove plaque from between your teeth. Finally, they will polish your teeth to remove surface stains and brighten your smile.

Dental Exam

Your dentist will perform a complete dental and oral examination. This is done to check your teeth and mouth for signs of decay, gum disease, oral cancer, or other dental conditions. Using these findings, we will provide you with tailored treatment recommendations as needed.

Digital Diagnostics

During your visit, our team may also take digital X-rays and use intraoral cameras to check for cavities and other problems that are developing or are in areas where we cannot easily see them. This gives us a complete overview of your oral health.

How often should I have my teeth cleaned?

We recommend that you visit our office every six months for a dental cleaning and exam. These regular checkups allow us to monitor your oral health and provide prompt treatment for any problems that may develop. Are cleanings covered by insurance?



Basic preventive care, such as checkups and cleanings, is generally covered 100% by most major dental insurance plans. In-depth periodontal (“deep”) cleaning may be covered in part between 50%-80%, depending on your coverage. We will be sure to confirm your benefits and help you understand your insurance coverage to make the most of the coverage you’re owed.

How often should I see the dentist?


